Are these numbers actually realistic?
Yes. That's why we cap the headline number at 12-20% of your annual revenue, depending on your salon size. Smaller salons get a higher cap because Slick has more room to move the needle. The raw math often produces higher numbers, but we'd rather show you something you can actually hit in year one than impress you with a fantasy.
How exactly do you calculate these numbers?
Three levers, all from your inputs plus Slick platform data — and in two of them we deliberately assume less than Slick's published results. Fill empty slots: Slick salons typically lift occupancy 5 points, from 78% to 83%; we assume you fill about 1 extra point of your diary. Recover no-show revenue: deposit programmes typically recover around 60% of would-be no-show revenue; we assume about a quarter of it. Not every salon switches deposits on or runs every campaign, so Slick's published figures — which come from salons using the platform fully — aren't what we've put in your number. We'd rather understate what you'll get than oversell it. Lower card processing: the gap between your current rate and Slick Payments at 1.29% in-person (excl. VAT), on about 85% of revenue run through cards — this one isn't reduced, because it applies automatically. We then cap the total at 12 to 20% of your annual revenue (smaller salons get a higher cap) so the headline stays realistic. The occupancy, no-show, and SMS-marketing figures come from Slick platform data across 1,200+ UK salons in 2026; processing benchmarks reflect UK industry averages.
How long does it take to switch?
Most salons are live within a week. Slick handles the migration from your current software — client database, appointment history, services, pricing. Free of charge. We've done it for 10,000+ salons.
Do I need to switch payment processors?
No, but if you want the processing savings the calculator shows, you'd use Slick Payments (built into the platform at 1.29% in-person, excl. VAT, with no per-transaction fee). You can keep your existing processor and still use Slick for everything else.
What if I'm a solo stylist?
Slick works on the Essential tier (£22/mo, excl. VAT). You won't get digital appointment cards bundled at that tier, but you can add them for £6/mo + VAT, which still beats most competitors' base price for a single chair.
How is this different from Fresha, Treatwell, Booksy or Phorest?
Slick is built specifically for UK hair salons and barbers (we don't try to be everything to everyone). Pricing is transparent — no commission on your bookings, unlike marketplace tools. Card processing is among the lowest in the category. And Slick is backed by L'Oréal Professionnel, with 10,000+ UK salons and barbers already on the platform.
