Are these numbers actually realistic?
Yes. That's why we cap the headline number at 12-20% of your annual revenue, depending on your salon size. Smaller salons get a higher cap because Slick has more room to move the needle. The raw math often produces higher numbers, but we'd rather show you something you can actually hit in year one than impress you with a fantasy.
How exactly do you calculate these numbers?
Three levers, all from your inputs plus Slick platform data. Fill empty slots: we model a 5-point occupancy lift (most salons go from about 78% to 83%), applied to your annual revenue. Recover no-show revenue: your no-shows per day, across your days open and average ticket, times a roughly 60% recovery rate from deposit programs. Lower card processing: the gap between your current rate and Slick's 2.1% + $0.03, on about 85% of revenue run through cards. We then cap the total at 12 to 20% of your annual revenue (smaller salons get a higher cap) so the headline stays realistic. The occupancy, no-show, and SMS-marketing figures come from Slick platform data across 1,200+ salons in 2026; processing benchmarks reflect published industry averages; Slick Payments is 2.1% + $0.03 in-person, 2.7% online.
How long does it take to switch?
Most salons are live within a week. Slick handles the migration from your current software — client database, appointment history, services, pricing. Free of charge. We've done it for 10,000+ salons.
Do I need to switch payment processors?
No, but if you want the processing savings the calculator shows, you'd use Slick Payments (built into the platform at 2.1% + $0.03 in-person). You can keep your existing processor and still use Slick for everything else.
What if I'm a solo stylist?
Slick works on the Essential tier ($20/mo). You won't get digital appointment cards bundled at that tier, but you can add them for $6/mo, which still beats most competitors' base price for a single seat.
How is this different from GlossGenius, Vagaro, or Fresha?
Slick is built specifically for hair salons (we don't try to be everything to everyone). Pricing is transparent. Card processing is among the lowest in the category. And our parent company, DaySmart, has been running salon software for 30+ years. Happy to go deeper on a 30-minute demo if you want the full breakdown.
