New MFA Security
Your salon stores client data. MFA keeps it safe. And it works exactly like the banking apps you already use — no extra hassle, just peace of mind

Why Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Matters for Your Salon
Chances are you've used Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) before when signing in to banking apps or other online accounts. We're bringing the same added layer of security to Slick to help keep your account safe and secure. This shouldn't add friction with our 30 day approval but will definitely protect your account & keep it secure.
You're a Data Controller- Why MFA matters
Here's something many salon owners don't realise: when you're storing client contact details, payment information, and appointment history in Slick, you're not just running a salon. Legally speaking, you're a data controller under GDPR.
That means you have a responsibility to keep your clients' personal data secure. Not as a nice-to-have. As a legal obligation.
Just as you're responsible for keeping your salon secure, we're responsible for continually improving the security of your Slick account. Passwords have always helped protect your account, and Multi-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to help keep your business and client data even safer
MFA is one of the simplest, most effective ways to honour that responsibility. It adds a security layer that makes it virtually impossible for someone to access your account through phishing or password guessing, even if they somehow got hold of your email login/password.
In practical terms: you control the data, you protect the data, MFA helps you do exactly that.
You're Already Using MFA Every Single Day
Here's the thing that might surprise you: you almost certainly already use multi-factor authentication regularly.
Think about your banking app. When you log in, you get a notification on your phone asking you to confirm it's really you. That's MFA.
Instagram DMs on your phone? When you try to log in from a new device, it sends you a code. MFA.
Gmail and your emails? Same story, you're asked to verify.
Slick's MFA works exactly like the apps you're already comfortable with. When you or a team member logs in from a new device or location, Slick will ask for a simple confirmation. That's it.
It's the same familiar two-step process you use in banking and social media, applied to keeping your salon's data safe.
It Won't Interrupt Your Day (We Promise)
Here's where a lot of security features fall down: they're annoying. You end up fighting the system instead of using it.
We designed MFA with your reality in mind. Here's what happens:
Your computer/phone is remembered for 30 days. After the initial setup, you won't get asked to verify every single time you log in. Your phone becomes a trusted device. You log in like normal.
MFA only triggers on new devices or new locations. If you're logging in from a new iPad in the treatment room? You'll get a quick verification prompt. If someone in Australia tries to access your account from a different country? It catches it. If a new team member logs in for the first time? Single verification, then they're good to go.
The verification takes seconds. You get an SMS code, you enter the code and you're in. No waiting. No friction.
In other words, MFA protects you without slowing you down.

Why This Matters Right Now
Online security threats continue to evolve, which is why many online services now use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Adding this extra layer of security helps protect your Slick account and the customer and financial information you store within it.
MFA cuts the risk dramatically. Even if someone tricks a team member into giving up their password, they still can't get in without physical access to that person's phone. It's one of the most effective security tools available. This is why banks use it, Instagram uses it, and why we're implementing it across Slick.
The Bottom Line
You care about your clients. You protect their data. MFA is how you do that in the digital age. The same way you lock the door at night or keep payment cards secure.
It's not complicated. You already know how to use it. And it barely touches your working day.
Your salon data is worth protecting. Your clients deserve that protection. And with Slick MFA, you've got it.
What Happens Next?
We're rolling out MFA across Slick over the coming weeks. You'll be guided through a simple setup process. We'll be in touch with FAQs and step-by-step guides to walk you through it when it launches.
If you have questions, our support team is here. We're not here to make your job harder. We're here to make it easier and safer.
