Stā Studios: next generation co-working

Samantha is a hugely successful salon owner and award winner but she wanted to build something different for the freelance community.

However Samantha's vision relied on finding a system that would support her chair rental model.

Most chair rental models mean all monies go to the business bank account which creates massive risks and complications. Samantha wanted a better and safer way.

"I needed a new system"

"There are lots of systems out there but none are build for Co-working or Chair Rental" says Samantha

"I needed something that would allow us to take deposits and payments but direct all payments to their Member's bank accounts and to keep their earnings separate from mine"

Samantha didn't want all payments going into her business bank account as this would create complications for tax reporting for HMRC.

She didn't want each Member to have their own card machine as this would be messy.

She needed something more advanced which is where Slick stepped in!

Together, Slick and Samantha collaborated to build a unique system designed for chair renters.

"Slick is integral to Stā Studios. The payment system gives us the best of both worlds: earnings are separate yet we have one system we can all work from"

Co-founder & Chief Commercial Officer, Slick

Robert Smith is a co-founder of Slick and its Chief Commercial Officer. Before Slick he spent his career on the brand side of beauty, in marketing and product roles at L'Oréal and Philips. That's where he first heard salon owners describe the same two problems over and over: empty columns and clients who don't turn up. Slick came out of those conversations, and it now runs about 10,000 hair and beauty businesses. He writes about what salon software actually costs owners, and about the fees the industry would rather not itemize.
